Osazee Woghiren Medical Center

Today the inhabitants of Ugbokun Village frequently die from what can be classified as ‘unnecessary deaths’ due to lack of medical care. It is an environment marked by unsafe drinking water, and unsanitary surroundings. Conditions which are easily prevented or treated such as diarrhea, malaria, pneumonia, measles, polio, tetanus and diabetes are crippling and deadly when there is no access to basic medical care.

The nearest hospital is miles away. The people are too impoverished to travel to the hospital and to pay for medical care. Osazee Woghiren, who was born in Ugbokun Village and later educated in Boston where he is now lives, wanted to help insure that his people in Ugbokun Village could have access to basic medical care.

In November 2012, the Osazee Woghiren Medical Center was dedicated and became operational. The clinic will provide basic medical care for the surrounding community. Osazee Woghiren was able to encourage the interest and support of the local government who will work alongside this effort of Stride Outreach World.

At the clinic, there is a nurse on staff with access to basic medial supplies and equipment. Doctors can be called in an emergency. Osazee Woghiren has given a van to the clinic to ensure travel back and forth to the city where there is a hospital and medical supplies.
